Temperature Converter

Convert Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin.

About this tool

This temperature converter converts between Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin. It is useful for weather readings, cooking, study and simple scientific calculations. Temperature scales use different zero points, so conversions may include an offset as well as a scale factor.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the temperature value.
  2. Select the source scale and the target scale.
  3. Calculate and check the result in the target scale.

Formula

°F = (°C × 9/5) + 32; K = °C + 273.15; °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9

Worked example

25°C is 77°F and 298.15 K.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Celsius and Fahrenheit?

They use different reference points and degree sizes. Water freezes at 0°C or 32°F under standard pressure.

Can Kelvin be negative?

Ordinary thermodynamic temperatures in Kelvin cannot be below absolute zero, 0 K. Check inputs carefully when using scientific values.

Why is 0°C not 0°F?

The scales have different zero points. The conversion formula includes both a scale factor and an offset.

Are the conversions suitable for laboratory work?

They are standard mathematical conversions, but laboratory work should follow the instrument precision, significant figures and procedures required for the experiment.
